ELOS IPL & Laser, the only total progress the last years.
Syneron was established by Shimon Eckhouse in the year 2000, he is the man who created the first IPL system in 1992 and is responsible for some of the greatest breakthroughs in lasertechnology of the 90's. In 1999 he advanced his patents and created ELOS (Electro Optical Synergy), the only technology that combines Laser or IPL with Bi-Polar Radiofrequency (RF). More than 5000 physicians all over the world have chosen ELOS IPL the last years thanks to all the available published studies. You can read more about the differences of ELOS and the older IPL and Laser technology here.

IPL and LASER
Heat, heat and heat! That is what it's all about. In order to remove hair, pigmentation spots and blood vessels you need to achieve high temperatures in your skin in a fraction of a second. With the help of light it is quick and safe. The light needs a target in order to work, when removing hair the target is pigmentation in the hair shaft, with blood vessels the target is the red color in the blood (hemoglobin). Some light wavelengths hit pigmentation, and some hit the coloring matter of the blood. When the light hits its target high temperatures are achieved. What the heat then destroys depends on the treatment that is performed. When removing hair it is the protein and stem cells in the hair follicle that enclose the hair shaft. In the walls of the blood vessels there is also a protein that needs to be destroyed in order to make the blood vessel shrink and disappear.
LASER
Laser is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. An ordinary lightbulb radiates photones in all directions and all light wavelengths and can therefore be used to light up a room. The laser on the other hand radiates photones in a single direction and wavelength in order to light up one small point. A benefit with using Laser is that it can be charged with emense amounts of energy which makes it successful in practicing skin- and vessel tissue removal.
IPL
IPL is an acronym for Intensive Pulsed Light and can be crudely described as an tremendously strong cameraflash. The light from a flash lights up everything in its surroundings and is therefore a dispersive light in all light wavelengths. Since some wavelengths are more harmful than others and don't do any good a filter is used to remove these wavelengths. What remains is wavelengths that have an affect on what is being treated. The IPL light is perfect for hair removal, shallow blood vessels, pigmentation spots and skinrejuvenation.
Good to know when you are choosing IPL and Laser clinic
Is the price more important than the results? NO! Our experience shows that many consumers choose clinics with low prices because they do not know which systems bring the good results. In addition to Syneron there are a handful of manufacturers that are noted on the American Nasdaq stock market and who invest huge amounts in research and drive the development forward. Most of the other manufacturers build their systems on old technology that is not comparable to the latest technology because it is often patent protected. New modern technology is a bit more expensive but also gives better results.
Published studies at your IPL Clinic
ou should always asked for published studies before treatment. You should never settle for just studies, they need to have been PUBLISHED. That means that they are independent and reviewed by a medical journal. ELOS IPL has over 40 published studies. If the clinic cannot show you published studies you should choose another clinic.
